Installing your peel-and-stick wall mural

Before you begin, grab a second person if you can, and inspect the wall. Murals need a smooth, clean surface for the best adhesion and finish. Take your time — peel-and-stick is forgiving, and you can lift and reposition as you go.

Step 1 — Prep your wall

Smooth bumps and fill cracks or holes.
Remove switch plates and wall fixtures.
Wipe the wall with a warm, damp cloth and let it dry fully so dust and residue don’t sit under the mural.

Step 2 — Peel and stick

Measure and lightly mark where the mural should sit.
Peel a few inches of backing from the top edge.
Align the top of the mural, press it to the wall, then continue peeling the backing a few inches at a time while smoothing downward.
If a wrinkle appears, don’t force it. Gently rub toward the edges, or lift that section and reapply.

Our peel-and-stick murals are made to remove cleanly when paint is properly applied. Keep the liner (backing) if you may move or rehang the mural later.

Step 3 — Align panels (multi-panel murals)

Install the first panel carefully — a straight first panel makes the rest easy. Then align panel 2 to panel 1 with about a 2 inch overlap (panel 2 slightly covers panel 1). Match the image pattern across the overlap — don’t butt the edges together, or the design won’t line up. Repeat for remaining panels.

Step 4 (optional) — Trim overlapping seams

Place a straightedge in the middle of the overlap and cut through both layers with a sharp utility knife. Remove the outer scrap, peel back slightly to remove the inner scrap on the wall, then smooth the panels so the cut edges meet cleanly.

Step 5 — Trim excess

Once the mural is fully down, trim excess at ceilings, baseboards, and corners.
Use a straightedge and a sharp blade. Cut slowly, and change blades often for clean edges.
